Treating Long Covid Neurological Symptoms at Neura Health

Long Covid continues to present challenges for both patients and the medical community working to understand and treat its many outcomes. One of the most difficult aspects for so many patients is receiving an accurate diagnosis and a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses the ongoing, often life-altering symptoms. This journey can be frustrating, especially when symptoms don’t fit neatly into one category or when it’s unclear why they’re persisting or getting worse.

At Neura Health, we believe that focusing on what you're experiencing rather than why your Long Covid symptoms started can be a better way to start feeling like yourself again. Whether it’s brain fog, fatigue, chronic headache, dizziness, or other neurological symptoms triggered or worsened by Covid-19, identifying and managing these issues can often be more helpful than fixating on what initially caused them, especially when that cause may not be fully understood, or even relevant to treatment.

While we understand that many Long Covid patients are frustrated by limited treatment options and are seeking experimental approaches, our clinic focuses on evidence-based care. We often treat the individual symptoms, complications, and condition progressions associated with Long Covid, drawing on our expertise to support each patient’s quality of life.

Neura’s Role in Post-Covid Neurological Care

Neura Health offers video-based evaluation and care for individuals experiencing neurological symptoms following Covid-19. In other words, our doctors meet you where you are: on Zoom.

The evaluation includes:

  • New-onset neurological symptoms and conditions that began after a Covid infection, like daily headache, stroke, sleep disorders, etc.

  • Complications of pre-existing neurological conditions worsened by Covid, like migraine, neuropathy, a sleep disorder, seizure disorders, and more

  • Neurological manifestations of Long Covid, such as brain fog, dizziness, daily headache, insomnia, or other disabling symptoms

It's important to clarify that we do not provide care for non-neurological post-Covid symptoms such as cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal issues, or fibromyalgia. Additionally, we are not an appropriate clinic for ME/CFS and severe or complicated POTS. However, if our providers determine that your symptoms fall outside our specialty, we will always point you in the direction of a more appropriate care provider.

Our Diagnostic Process

We want to make clear that Neura Health is NOT a full-service, multidisciplinary Long Covid diagnostic center like what you may find at Yale, Mt Sinai, or Vanderbilt. Instead, we specialize in neurology-focused telehealth care, with a streamlined process to help get you the answers you need:

  • Your journey begins with a new patient appointment, where your symptoms, history, and care goals are thoroughly reviewed.

  • Based on this, we match you with the most appropriate provider from our network, often a sub-specialty nurse practitioner, neurologist, or headache specialist, who has some familiarity with post-viral neurological symptoms and can support your individual needs. Please note that we don’t offer sub-specialty expertise in post-viral syndromes.
  • From there, we may order imaging or labs if necessary and begin crafting a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Personalized Treatment Approaches

Treatment at Neura is always individualized to your specific needs using evidence-based medicine with a patient-first approach. Remember that Long Covid is still relatively new and that it does not have a single approved treatment to address all 200+ symptoms and comorbidity complications. This is why every patient plan is individualized to how Long Covid affects and disables them. And while some full-service Long Covid research clinics may have a more experimental approach, we are not set up that way. Taking those risks could endanger our patients, leading to greater disability.

While it seems easy to outline all of the treatments we provide our Long Covid patients, good, personalized care is not that simple. Frankly put: you deserve better than a limited list of options. But know that we are familiar with therapies like low-dose naltrexone (LDN), as well as targeted approaches for managing specific complications such as migraine or neuropathy.

When needed, we collaborate with other specialists—often referring patients to physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), or vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) to support their recovery holistically. Additionally, we support meditation, pacing, mindfulness, and other measures that help regulate the nervous system and calm any overactive activity in your parasympathetic nervous system (fight or flight response).

We also provide twice-monthly care coaching, so you have someone to help you set goals and hold you accountable to those goals.

Get Matched with the Right Neurology Provider at Neura

If you're struggling with post-Covid neurological symptoms and are unsure where to turn, Neura may be able to help. Our telehealth model allows you to be seen by a specialist (often within a week) from the comfort of your home, and receive a care plan tailored to your needs.

There’s no long wait, no commute that will deplete you of your energy reserves, no waiting room filled with people who may or may not be sick with a virus that could trigger a flare. Instead, it’s just you, your laptop, and a provider who genuinely cares and will do their best to help you reach a better quality of life.
