Q: Tell us a little about your background/training. 

My journey began in the bustling city of New York, where I was raised and received all of my professional training. Immediately after high school, I was accepted into the accelerated seven-year program at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, which fast-tracked my progression into the medical field. After completing this rigorous curriculum, I earned my medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1996.

Continuing my postgraduate training, I completed my neurology residency at Montefiore Hospital, an institution affiliated with the esteemed Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in the year 2000.

Q: Tell us about why you chose neurology and headaches specifically - what interested you most about this field?  

During my upbringing, I observed firsthand the distressing impact of headache disorders on my family members. This deeply personal experience cultivated a keen interest in Headache Medicine, a specialty where I felt I could make a significant difference.

Q: What have been the things you are most proud of in your career?

I was honored with a grant from Pfizer, which facilitated my efforts to enhance awareness about migraines among my peers and within the community. These endeavors aim at fostering a better understanding of this medical condition, consequently promoting improved care and management.

Q: What have you learned from your patients that has helped you become a better doctor?

Moreover, witnessing their resilience and strength in face of health challenges has inspired me to always strive for the best outcomes, no matter how complex the situation may be. It has taught me to approach each case with an open mind, recognizing that every individual's experience with illness and recovery can differ significantly.

Additionally, patients have imparted the lesson of patience and persistence, especially those seeking care for chronic conditions like headaches. Their journey to relief can be a long and winding one, reinforcing the necessity for sustained efforts, and innovative approaches in treatment plans.
