Coaching Beyond Headache and Migraine

If you’ve worked with a Neura Health Care Coach for headache or migraine, you may already know how powerful coaching can be in helping you build routines, manage stress, and feel more in control of your health, but did you know that care coaching can support many other neurological and chronic conditions, too?

There’s a saying in our field: “Coaching is coaching is coaching.” That means the foundation of what we do – listening, helping you set goals, and finding strategies that fit your life – stays consistent no matter the condition.

Still, every person’s health journey is unique. The focus areas and strategies shift depending on your diagnosis, symptoms, and life. Our role as certified health coaches is to meet you where you are, help you make realistic changes, and support you in managing your condition on a day-to-day basis.

Here are some examples of what care coaching can look like beyond managing headaches and migraine.

Epilepsy

If you’re living with epilepsy, care coaching can help you build structure and confidence in managing your condition. We might work together on:

  • Creating daily routines for self-care and condition management
  • Building a “support toolkit” for home, work, or travel
  • Improving sleep quality and resting habits
  • Organizing thoughts and questions before doctor visits
  • Identifying and tracking possible triggers
  • Reducing stress through relaxation or mindfulness techniques
  • Communicating with friends and family about how they can best support you

TBI/Concussion

Recovery after a brain injury or concussion can bring many changes to daily life. Coaching can help you find stability and practical ways to move forward:

  • Managing stress and pacing your energy
  • Establishing regular eating and hydration habits
  • Supporting healthy sleep routines
  • Creating a plan for returning to work or daily activities
  • Adapting to new limits or routines that help you function safely
  • Using tools and systems (like apps or reminders) to support memory and focus
  • Practicing strategies to cope with memory or attention challenges or barriers

Sleep/CBT-I

If sleep is a struggle, care coaching can make a big difference in building consistency and accountability. Together, we can work on:

  • Managing stress before bedtime
  • Building a bedtime and morning routine that fits your life
  • Making your sleep environment more restful (even with a partner who snores!)
  • Finding ways to care for yourself during the day so your body’s ready to rest
  • Exploring your ideal bedtime and wake time
  • Learning how to rest and recharge, even outside of sleep itself
  • Working through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)

Memory

If you’re experiencing memory challenges or caring for someone who is, care coaching can help you create structure and ease daily stress. We might explore:

  • Tools and ideas for remembering or being prompted for important tasks
  • Ways to improve sleep and manage stress
  • Simple systems, apps, or routines to stay organized and on task
  • Support for caregivers, including stress reduction and self-care strategies

Tremor, Other Neurological, or Undiagnosed Conditions

When symptoms change or are unclear, it can feel overwhelming. Care coaching can help you find ways to regain a sense of control and calm:

  • Organizing your thoughts and questions for upcoming appointments
  • Improving sleep habits and recovery routines
  • Logging symptoms or triggers to share with your healthcare team
  • Finding supportive ways to manage work or return to work
  • Adjusting your daily routines to fit your current energy and ability levels
