Neura Health Recognized in Fast Company's 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards

The sixth annual awards honor the products, concepts, companies, policies, and designs that are driving change, tackling issues from climate change to inequality, and so much more.

New York, NY -- The winners of Fast Company’s 2022 World-Changing Ideas Awards were announced today, honoring clean technology, innovative corporate initiatives, brave new designs for cities and buildings, and other creative works that are supporting the growth of positive social innovation, tackling social inequality, climate change, and public health crises.

Neura Health has been selected as an honorable mention in the Best World Changing Ideas North America and Health categories and a finalist in the Wellness category.

Neura Health was established to improve access to and quality of care for patients with neurological conditions. Currently, there aren’t enough neurologists in the US to meet demand, and patients often have to wait, on average, 35 days to see one; and travel hours to connect with the right specialist. Treatment quality needs improvement as diagnoses are based on self-reported data with recency bias. Through its first app, targeted at chronic headache and migraine patients, Neura Health offers the first-ever virtual neurology platform that allows patients to track symptoms and receive high-touch neurological care. Its long-term vision is to find cures based on patient experience data.

Neura Health is the first of its kind, as there are no other virtual neurology clinics on the market. While other digital health companies in the space have focused on convenient access to medication, most have leveraged general nurse practitioners who are not specifically trained in the nuances of migraine and/or other neurologic conditions.

Neura Health offers comprehensive, personalized treatment to meet the needs of individual patients. While many patients are prescribed medications, implementing lifestyle modifications - through diet, exercise, and/or stress management techniques - are just as important in managing patients’ conditions. The company also tackles common comorbidities -- like anxiety and depression -- which often affect a high percentage of those who suffer from chronic neurologic conditions. Neura Health’s proprietary headache tracker and customized care plans allow the ability to track outcomes at scale. Plus Neura’s care coaching program allows each patient to get support as they work toward their personal health goals.

It is the thoughtful combination of a personalized care team and easy-to-use technology that helps patients find relief. While doing this, Neura Health is building up an immense amount of real world evidence that will help to support research, along with a deep understanding of outcomes.

Now in its sixth year, the World Changing Ideas Awards showcase 39 winners, 350 finalists, and more than 600 honorable mentions—with climate, social justice, and AI and data among the most popular categories. A panel of eminent Fast Company editors and reporters selected winners and finalists from a pool of more than 2,997 entries across transportation, education, food, politics, technology, health, social justice, and more. In addition, several new categories have been added this year including climate, nature, water, and workplace. The 2022 awards feature entries from across the globe, from Switzerland to Hong Kong to Australia.

“As a venture-backed startup with the mission to improve access and quality of care for neurologic conditions, Neura offers a centralized platform that encompasses symptom tracking and real-time treatment for those suffering from neurological conditions,” says Neura Health CEO and Co-Founder Elizabeth Burstein. “Plus, the platform allows researchers to study the data -- to see what is/isn’t working for patients at a massive scale -- as it is the world’s first full-stack, tech-enabled virtual neurology clinic on the market. Neura Health is truly flipping the script on how neurological conditions are treated.”

“We are consistently inspired by the novelty and creativity that people are applying to solve some of our society’s most pressing problems, from shelter to the climate crisis. Fast Company relishes its role in amplifying important, innovative work to address big challenges,” says David Lidsky, interim editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “Our journalists have identified some of the most ingenious initiatives to launch since the start of 2021, which we hope will both have a meaningful impact and lead others to join in being part of the solution.”
