Q: Tell us a little about your background/training.

‍

I grew up in Taiwan and Los Angeles. After college at UC Berkeley and medical school at New York Medical College, I received dual residency training in neurology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and nuclear medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. After residency, I completed a behavioral neurology and neuro-imaging fellowship at UCLA/West LA VAMC.

Q: Tell us about why you chose neurology and headaches specifically - what interested you most about this field?  

‍

I chose neurology because I wanted to understand how cognition, behavior, and emotion come about in the brain. In clinical practice, I developed a passion for helping headache patients, given the recent advances in therapy and the holistic approach in management. 

‍

Q: What have been the things you are most proud of in your career?

‍

I am proud to be in a community of clinicians, scientists, caregivers, and advocates, who are passionate about advancing the science and the care for patients with neurological disorders. It has been particularly gratifying to witness the development of new therapies for Alzheimer’s disease and migraine in recent years.

Q: What have you learned from your patients that has helped you become a better doctor?

‍

As a doctor, I believe the learning never ends. I have always tried to learn from each of my patients, so that I can better help my next patient. My patients and the caregivers have shown me time and time again the indomitable human spirit and the joy of life, in the face of uncertainty and debilitating disease, which inspire me to continue to learn and provide the best care I can.

Q: What are you most excited about regarding your role at Neura?
