Meet Brooke Masilak, FNP-C, AQH Headache and General Neurology Nurse Practitioner
At Neura Health, we're dedicated to delivering compassionate, whole-person neurological care, and we're thrilled to introduce Brooke Masilak, FNP-BC — a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a special focus on neurology and headache medicine. With 16 years of experience in the medical field, Brooke is passionate about helping patients navigate everything from persistent headaches to complex neurological concerns. She combines evidence-based practice with a deep understanding of the mind-body connection to support each individual's unique path to better health.
A Deep Commitment to Headache and Neurological Health
Brooke Masilak began her career in neurology as a nurse and later advanced her clinical expertise as a nurse practitioner specializing in headache medicine. Her extensive experience in neurology, combined with her certification in headache care—AQH (Added Qualification in Headache Medicine) from the National Headache Foundation—makes her a highly qualified and trusted provider for those navigating complex headache disorders.
In the video, Brooke shares her journey into neurology and headache medicine, emphasizing her passion for helping people feel better and reclaim their quality of life. Her compassionate, patient-centered approach has been shaped by years of hands-on experience and her own personal connection to migraine.
A Personal Connection to Migraine
What makes Brooke’s perspective so unique is that she not only treats migraine—she lives with it. As someone who experiences episodic migraine herself and has family members who also have migraine, Brooke understands the daily challenges her patients face on a deeply personal level.
“Migraine is so interesting because there are many different iterations,” she explains in the video. “Each person may have unique symptoms on top of the classic migraine presentation. That makes treatment both complex and deeply personal.”
This lived experience fuels her dedication to creating individualized treatment plans that address each patient’s specific symptoms, triggers, lifestyle, and goals.
Personalized Migraine Treatment Plans
At Neura Health, Brooke works with patients to develop customized care plans tailored to their unique needs. From selecting the right medication or device, to recommending evidence-based supplements and lifestyle strategies, Brooke ensures that her patients feel empowered and supported every step of the way.
“I always want my patients to feel heard,” she emphasizes. “It’s not a one-way street—we collaborate together to find what works.”
This philosophy is at the heart of Neura Health’s care model. Patients are not just passive recipients of care; they are active participants in their health journey, working hand-in-hand with compassionate professionals like Brooke.
Tools for Migraine Management: From Medication to Neuromodulation
In the video, Brooke also discusses how she personally manages her own migraine episodes using a combination of as-needed medications, natural supplements, and the Nerivio® device, a non-invasive neuromodulation tool designed to treat migraine pain. Her openness about her own management strategies helps normalize the experience of living with migraine and offers hope to those seeking relief through integrative treatment approaches.

Transcript:
My name is Brooke Masilak, and I am a headache and general neurology nurse practitioner at Neura Health.
What first brought you to medicine?
I have many years of neurology practice, first in nursing, then as a nurse practitioner, and also in headache medicine. I do have my AQH, which is added qualification in headache medicine from the National Headache Foundation and I started practicing because I wanted to help people.
What’s your special interest within your specific field?
Within the field of headache medicine, I'm very interested in migraine. I have migraine myself, I have family members who also have migraine. It's very interesting because there are many different iterations of migraine. Each individual may have some different unique symptoms that are specific to them on top of the classic migraine symptoms. So that makes treating the migraine very interesting and also very personalized.
What’s your approach to treating patients?
It's really important to me that I provide a personalized approach to each patient's treatment plan. Every patient has a different goal and different needs that should be addressed. And primarily, the most important thing is that they feel heard, and like we're collaborating together, and it's not a one-way street.
Do you have a chronic condition or does someone close to you have a chronic condition?
Yes, I have migraine, or episodic migraine. I manage it by taking as needed medication and natural supplements in addition to the Nerivio device.
